Here we go.

Saturday, March 24, 2007

This is something that I've heard about before, but it takes a while for me to truly experience it.

Facebook, MSN, Xanga, ICQ, Email... all of these things are great, fast, and convenient ways of connecting with your friends: the close friends, the long-lost friends, the acquaintances, the new friends. Or so the hype goes.

However, the more I use it, the more I realize that it puts a lot of distance between people. When was the last time I went out to talk with some friends about things meaningful and relevant? How often do I talk about the things that are lurking around in my heart, instead of surface things that are shallow, online?

Not saying that you can't have a meaningful conversation on MSN or something, but it really takes away from that human-ness of interaction with another living, breathing person, and makes people less and less individual.

lol owned.

so today we went down to the skating rink, and decided to go for a bit of skating. I was having fun and learning to skate comfortably fast, when all of a sudden, one of my skates slipped and i ended up owning myself with a chin smack right on the ice (don't know why my hands didn't break the fall -_-"). blood came dripping onto the ice, kids were horrified, the staff was notified, and the best part? I actually had a smile on my face. I think I'm getting too used to these kinds of incidents. *sweatdrop*

following that, 8 stitches at the hospital by a n00b doc, who kept dropping his scissors onto the cloth covering my face, to the horror of the onlookers, one of who left the room because she chickened out XD. the anesthetic started to wear off 5 stitches before he finished, since he screwed up one of them before that. by the end of it, I could actually feel pretty much the full pain. i was about to tell him to freeze me again, but luckily, he was done.

and, of course, those who know me well would also know that I got a major verbal spanking from my mom, who was worried as heck, and yelled at me for playing a "sport i am not born for", when she failed to realize that i can pretty much injure myself with any sport, even with tennis, which I've played since I was a little kid. it's just part of it for me.

however, the worse part wasn't any of that: it was the realization that I actually had a heck of a lot of fun before the accident, and I want to keep skating. oh boy =D

I'm SO dead when my parents hear about that. XD

more.

There IS more to this life.

Despite all of the lonely times, the failures, the mysteries, and the silent screams inside.

There is more to this life. Just like the sun above the clouds through which we can't see sometimes.

More to it than just a mediocre plodding through life, smiles that don't reach your eyes. More to it than living like dead men. More to it than playing the part of 'good Christians' when it's been ages since God was alive and real in your heart, when it's been ages since you have flew, ran, walked, limped beside Him on the road, and instead you've just decided to sit down beside the road and decide that there's no point to keep walking.

And if you don't know Him, maybe it's a call to you. That maybe, there's more to life than just life itself.

If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.

I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty..

More to this life - By Steven Curtis Chapman

Today I watched in silence as people passed me by,
And I strained to see if there was something hidden in their eyes;
But they all looked at me as if to say
Life just goes on.
The old familiar story told in different ways,
Make the most of your own journey from the cradle to the grave;
Dream your dreams tomorrow because today
Life must go on.

CHORUS
But theres more to this life than living and dying,
More than just trying to make it through the day;
More to this life, more than these eyes alone can see,
And theres more than this life alone can be.

Tonight he lies in silence staring into space,
And looks for ways to make tomorrow better than today,
But in the morning light it looks the same;
Life just goes on.
He takes care of his family, he takes care of his work,
And every Sunday morning he takes his place at the church;
And somehow he still feels a need to search,
But life just goes on.

(chorus)

So where do we start to find every part
Of what makes this life complete;
If we turn our eyes to Jesus we'll find
Life's true beginning is there at the cross where He died.
He died to bring us . . .
(chorus)
